'Are We Headed for War?' James Goll

Matthew 24:6 “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.”

In the last days, there will be wars and rumors of wars. However, Jesus says not to be alarmed. These things must come to pass before He returns.

Right now, many people, that I come across, are worried about the emergence of World War III. They’re afraid global events may spiral into a major world war. I sense and share their concern, but I don’t believe it will happen that way.

I believe we’re headed into multiple, regional wars. I’ve been saying this for a long time. There may be a regional war centered around the Gaza Strip, another in Ukraine, possibly another in the Pacific Rim, and still others emerging elsewhere. But, I don’t think these will turn into one, all encompassing global war.

Regardless, we need to cover these regional conflicts in prayer. We also need to pray for a Holy Spirit Border Patrol Guard across the southern border of the United States. It is time to dial 911.

I see other nations making new alliances while the United States' alliances start to grow thinner. The United States is being stretched right now financially and militarily. Let’s remember to keep the United States in our prayers as well, as these conflicts develop.

Biblical Response to Wars and Rumors of Wars

Jesus says a lot about the end times. However, when you isolate Jesus’ specific instructions about the last days, several rise to the surface:

  • Watch: Jesus told us eleven times to watch. Unpacking the Greek word behind ‘watch’, this word means to stay vigilant, awake, and aware. We need to stay vigilant, awake, and prayerfully aware during these times.

  • Do not be Afraid: Jesus told us four times to not be afraid. When wars, famines, and all kinds of crises occur, fear often grips people’s hearts. In this hour, it is essential to hand our fears over to God and trust him whole-heartedly.

  • Stand Firm: Jesus told us four times to stand firm. This exhortation matches the last. In times of crisis, it’s easy to panic, waver, doubt, or lose our inner strength. Jesus empowers us to resist these temptations and stand firm, even in the face of unexpected, alarming events.

We need to watch, resist fear, and stand firm in the midst of these global events. Join me in prayer.

Closing Prayer

Father God, we come to you in Jesus’ great name, and we declare in the time of wars and rumors of wars, it is time for the salvation hour of prayer. Thank you Father, that you have given us the key to watch and pray for such a time. We agree together and declare, it is time for the harvest to begin. Come once again Holy Spirit and breathe upon the Middle East and the dry bones of the body of Christ, for your holy name’s sake, amen.

God Bless You!

- James W. Goll
