Scriptures to Shape 2024 – Part Two Brian Simmons

In our previous post we shared some of our readers’ favorite verses for reflecting on God’s love, instruction, and ability to make all things new. In this continuation we have even more reader-recommended verses to encourage you for this new year. If you submitted a verse but don’t see it featured within this two-part blog post, please understand we worked to share as many responses as possible.

Strength

If you’re in need of strength for the year ahead, leaning on these Biblical truths will help remind you of the best source of power there is!

“Though we experience every kind of pressure, we’re not crushed. At times we don’t know what to do, but quitting is not an option. We are persecuted by others, but God has not forsaken us. We may be knocked down, but not out.”

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 TPT

“No matter the pressures of life we face, we can’t allow the enemy to cause us to quit. Why? Because quitting is not an option. God allows situations in our life because he is trying to redirect our focus onto him. Trials increase our faith, trust, and hope in God. Our testimony will be, ‘God is faithful.’” —Chanala L.

But those who entwine their hearts with Yahweh will experience divine strength. They will rise up on soaring wings and fly like eagles, run their races without growing weary, and walk through life without giving up.

Isaiah 40:31 TPT

“There have been many times in my life when my strength fails; this verse has always revived and encouraged me. I actually start in verse 1 and read through the entire chapter of Isaiah 40 which talks about our great and wondrous God! His promises never fail!” —Lauraine M.

“Do not yield to fear, for I am always near. Never turn your gaze from me, for I am your faithful God. I will infuse you with my strength and help you in every situation. I will hold you firmly with my victorious right hand.”

Isaiah 41:10 TPT

“I could actually feel God’s arms around me as I was going through my breast cancer journey in 2021. Thank you, Jesus, for your favor in my healing, in Jesus’ name. Amen.” —Olivia S.

“Now, this is what Yahweh says: “Listen, Jacob, to the One who created you, Israel, to the one who shaped who you are. Do not fear, for I, your Kinsman-Redeemer, will rescue you. I have called you by name, and you are mine. When you pass through the deep, stormy sea, you can count on me to be there with you. When you pass through raging rivers, you will not drown. When you walk through persecution like fiery flames, you will not be burned; the flames will not harm you.”

Isaiah 43:1-2 TPT

“It’s ABBA’S Rhema Word for me. My promise received from my loving YAHSHUA when he told me to go and spread his unconditional love! HALLELU-YAH!!!” —Rivkah B.

Impactful Chapters

Sometimes a single verse serves as a source of inspiration and spiritual guidance and sometimes it’s a particular chapter that leaves an enduring impact. Many readers shared specific Psalms which hold great meaning for them.

Psalm 1

“What delight comes to the one who follows God’s ways! He won’t walk in step with the wicked, nor share the sinner’s way, nor be found sitting in the scorner’s seat. His passion is to remain true to the Word of “I AM,” meditating day and night on the true revelation of light. He will be standing firm like a flourishing tree planted by God’s design, deeply rooted by the brooks of bliss, bearing fruit in every season of life. He is never dry, never fainting, ever blessed, ever prosperous.”

Psalm 1:1-3 TPT

“Psalm 1 reflects a beautiful vision of the worshiper who puts all his hope in the TRUE, great I AM!” —Carrie R.

Psalm 23

“Yahweh is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough. He offers a resting place for me in his luxurious love. His tracks take me to an oasis of peace near the quiet brook of bliss.”

Psalm 23:1-2 TPT

“I love the line ‘Yahweh is my best friend and my shepherd.’ It’s always my go to verse and it draws me in a close communion with Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit.” —Tyson M.

Psalm 91

“For here is what the Lord has spoken to me: “Because you loved me, delighted in me, and have been loyal to my name, I will greatly protect you. I will answer your cry for help every time you pray, and you will feel my presence in your time of trouble. I will deliver you and bring you honor.”

Psalm 91:14-15 TPT

It’s not just the Psalms. Romans chapter 8 holds great significance to many as Paul shares the wonderful truth that because of Jesus’ finished work on the crosswe are now set free to live a new life in the Spirit!

Romans 8

“So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together for good, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose.”

Romans 8:28 TPT

“God is aware of everything pertaining to our lives. Even the things we don’t like or understand, God uses them for our good. All we need to do is trust Him, and His purpose for our lives will be fulfilled.” —Tebogo M.

“For God has proved his love by giving us his greatest treasure, the gift of his Son. And since God freely offered him up as the sacrifice for us all, he certainly won’t withhold from us anything else he has to give.”

Romans 8:32 TPT

“Wow! If God did not spare his only begotten beloved Son for us nor withhold him…together with him, he has given us all things; this verse reveals the power of God’s love for mankind; and to know that it was this unconditional love and unusual sacrifice that gives us God’s Spirit, life, and more.” —Tekena O.

“Yet even in the midst of all these things, we triumph over them all, for God has made us to be more than conquerors, and his demonstrated love is our glorious victory over everything! So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles, fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!”

Romans 8:37-39 TPT

“These words sum up the whole chapter! I use them when prayer fails me. Having been through dark times I want to shout these verses from the rooftops. Even when God seems silent, I KNOW that it will be God alone who gets me through. I pray these verses over family and friends when words fail.” —Elaine K.

Philippians 4 is also a chapter many hold dear, embracing Paul’s words about unity, living as one in the fellowship of Jesus Christ, and God’s place of authority and power.

Philippians 4

“Be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Let your joy overflow! And let gentleness be seen in every relationship, for our Lord is ever near. Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will guard your heart and mind through Jesus Christ. Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. Put into practice the example of all that you have heard from me or seen in my life and the God of peace will be with you in all things.”

Philippians 4:4-9 TPT

“I love this Scripture so much especially for the times we live in. To be CHEERFUL in EVERY SEASON OF LIFE. The JOY of the Lord is our STRENGTH.” —Anonymous

“Thanksgiving opens the door to a worry-free life! Let him know your needs and he will take care of you! Then…think on good things!” —Eric B.

Faith

Faith can be a guide through dark times—keeping our hearts attuned to the hope and promises found in God’s Word. It’s always a good idea to keep a favorite ‘faith’ verse in your heart!

“You see, every child of God overcomes the world, for our faith is the victorious power that triumphs over the world.”

1 John 5:4 TPT

“God is a Faith God. It is how he operates. He calls things that be not as though they are. Faith is believing, being fully persuaded and totally convinced in the Word and God’s ability to perform the Word. Faith has the ability to do anything, change anything, and obtain whatever it is we desire.” —Scott S.

“I pray for you that the faith we share may effectively deepen your understanding of every good thing that belongs to you in Christ.”

Philemon 1:6 TPT

“This particular Scripture makes me constantly declare ALL the awesome things that are in me and for me in Christ Jesus. From Genesis to Revelation there are hundreds of commanded blessings that gives me joy and if I continue to acknowledge those good things, there is no room for negativity.” —Stella N.

“You love him passionately although you have not seen him, but through believing in him you are saturated with an ecstatic joy, indescribably sublime and immersed in glory. For you are reaping the harvest of your faith—the full salvation promised you—your souls’ victory!”

1 Peter 1:8-9 TPT

“There are many but this one sums up how I feel. Even though I don’t see the Lord I am passionately in love with Him. I love how it says, ‘saturated with an ecstatic joy.’ But then when I read I am receiving the harvest of my faith, that was the ‘aha’ that clinched my spirit. Praise, honor, glory to Jesus!” —Frances K.

“Then, by constantly using your faith, the life of Christ will be released deep inside you, and the resting place of his love will become the very source and root of your life.”

Ephesians 3:17 TPT

“The Holy Spirit had me feasting on this verse daily for the last year and a half. It has made a pathway into greater joy and awareness of Their presence. It has begun a deep work of transplanting the source of my life, from entanglements with the old ways into having my roots embedded in his love.” —Valerie M.

“Never doubt God’s mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power constantly energizes you.”

Ephesians 3:20 TPT

“This verse reminds me that God’s power is limitless, so my prayers should never be limited. God is never limited by protocol or the world. He instead breaks protocol for us! It tells me to believe in God for the extravagant and be unafraid of praying for the best.” —Ranti F.

“But if you live in life-union with me and if my words live powerfully within you—then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done.”

John 15:7 TPT

“Jesus says if you abide in me and my Words abide in you, you can ask him anything and it shall be done for you. The Word is also the Holy Spirit who dwells in me. I’m dependent on him for ‘everything’ of every minute of every day. Without him I can do nothing.” —Sean J.

“I pray with great faith for you, because I’m fully convinced that the One who began this gracious work in you will faithfully continue the process of maturing you until the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ!”

Philippians 1:6 TPT

“This verse has given me great strength, hope and comfort knowing that as I yield and rest in Him, He is doing a good work in me by His wonderful grace. No striving. Just resting.” —Janet D.

“Father, if you are willing, take this cup of agony away from me. But no matter what, your will must be mine.”

Luke 22:42 TPT

“It reminds me that I’m not in control, but God is. His will not mine.” —Sonha G.

“Depths of purpose and layers of meaning saturate everything you do.”

Psalm 92:5b TPT

“I love this TPT Scripture because it shows that God is intentional about every single thing he does, which includes our lives as his children. He has a purpose for everything.” —Lizah U.

“I am standing in absolute stillness, silent before the one I love, waiting as long as it takes for him to rescue me. Only God is my Savior, and he will not fail me.”

Psalm 62:5 TPT

“Praying this serves as ointment to my heart and the turbulence inside when I just want to be quiet. I can’t do it on my own. To me this verse serves as healing, patience, and trusting God to make me quiet inside and out.” —Amelia D.

“I hear the Lord saying, ‘I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life. I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide. So don’t make it difficult; don’t be stubborn when I take you where you’ve not been before. Don’t make me tug you and pull you along. Just come with me!'”

Psalm 32:8-9 TPT

“This was given to me four times this year as there is a big change in my life now. The words are so apt in the way they describe my life’s journey over the years when I was living cross culturally in many countries. I like the vivid descriptions used.” —Spring K.
