A recent situation where I was being gaslighted and manipulated by who I believe to be a Master Manipulator caused me to do some research.

A Master Manipulator is someone who is a master at operating in a manipulative manner to get people to think and act and do what they desire.
They use anything from excessive compliments, flattery, to ridicule, gaslighting, blaming, criticism, shaming, emotional blackmail, threats, insults, insinuations, fear, or even tears to get their way and control people or situations and people’s emotions.
They can skew any situation to make themselves look like the poor, abused victim. Or the hero. They will label everyone else to blame and cause you to feel mean or crazy if you think THEY are to blame for something - even though THEY ARE to blame.
Master manipulators are those individuals who have made a lifetime practice of using others to get their own wants and needs met. Their relationships eventually end up one-sided, although, at the beginning, they may go out of their way to please.

They are strongly perceptive and will psyche you out to find which technique to apply to control each different situation and type of person. When they find the best method, they use it to their gain.

What happens when you ignore a manipulator?

What do manipulators do when they lose control?
Manipulative people often spread rumors and lies for their own entertainment or to gain control over others—even if they know the stories aren't true. When they realize they can't control you anymore, they may decide to punish you by ruining your reputation or turning people against you. Again they try to make you look like the bully and them the victim, but the opposite is true.
Don’t get involved in discussions or disputes with them. Separate yourself from them. Block them from all contact.
It’s ok to do so. The Word tells us to separate ourselves from evildoers. (1 Corinthians 15:33, Proverbs 13:20, Psalm 1:1, Proverbs 6:27, 1 Corinthians 5:11, 1 Corinthians 10:13 – these are just a few).
Get wise counsel and prayer. Control is a product of witchcraft. You don’t have to go through the situation alone.
