As I heard these words I was shown a vision— a vision of what Jesus wanted us to give to him.
In the vision I saw God’s sons and daughters pondering what they could give Jesus for Christmas. Then they heard the whisper of the Holy Spirit says to them,
“Reach into your pocket.”
Each one of them reached into their pocket and found a pocket watch in it.
But then I watched as they unexpectedly began breaking these watches over the feet of Jesus— the glass covering the face of the watch fell upon his feet, the watch hands fell out upon his feet, the clock wheels fell at his feet, the face landed on his feet— every part of it. At first I didn’t understand this picture.
Then suddenly I knew what was happening. His sons and daughters were giving Jesus their time. Every moving part of every day. They were giving him the most precious thing they possessed— their time. Every moment was being offered to him as a gift and it was as precious as the perfume poured out of the alabaster jar so very long ago.
How he loves to spend time with us throughout the moments, days and years! He longs to dwell with us and inhabit everything that pertains to us. He wants time with us more than any other gift that we can bring.
This is what we can give our King.
